Hear ye, hear ye! Come one, come all to Val McJames Mystifying Menagerie of Monkey-business!
I am your friendly, neighborhood Deviant cheerleader. I endeavor to comment on other's works in an encouraging way to hopefully brighten their day. And if you happen to spot me moonlighting as a slayer of undead and all manner of other menaces, or donning a mask to fight crime, then you are welcome to join my Scooby Gang of Watchers!
During the lamentable yet hopefully temporary absence of my own personal Deviations, I have attempted to compile a collection of Favorites to enthrall, delight, amuse, bemuse, and confuse the casual viewer. Come in, explore, meander, go on walk about, shake your head in disapproval or nod in silent appreciation, take your shoes off, make yourself at home!
As for your humble host, I am but an aspiring writer who can only claim to write to please my own tastes, but I sincerely hope that others will enjoy coming along for the ride. I have also edited some works, and while I cannot claim to be an expert in the field, I am able to make a fair attempt at proofreading if properly motivated.
Perhaps my predilection for prose has pointed me in a similar direction to writing: Role Playing. I have indulged in RP for years now, on the tabletop and in computer games, most relevantly in Champions Online and in Second Life. Of course, within that wide expanse of RP, the most enjoyable has tended to be Superheroines-in-Peril (SHiP) or Damsels-in-Distress (DiD).
Also, if it is possible for a reasonably intelligent yet artistically challenged individual to learn how to create 3-D art on their home PC, then maybe one day I shall do so in the hope of illustrating my stories. Or perhaps I will continue to find artists here who are willing to collaborate or do commissions.
So until the Muse takes me and the dam breaks releasing a torrent of titillating tales for the pleasure of your perusal, I bid you to feast upon the works of others as I have categorized them for your enjoyment. I use "Original" to mean Original Characters, and "Non-Original" to indicate Copyrighted or Otherwise-owned characters.
Soon enough my own contributions will stain these pages, and then I shall have no hope of seeing anyone return to my Profile. Please enjoy my Favorites while you can without my own unsightly mess to spoil the view.
*smiles somehow despite tongue being firmly planted in cheek* "It'th weally harth to tawk like thith, you knowh."
*removes tongue from cheek* "Besides, I can think of much better uses for tongues!"
NOTE: I am so new here that I don't even know if this is an appropriate use for my Journal, but at least I gave it a shot.
Read on, True Deviants! Excelsior!

Meet the Maker of This Mystifying Menagerie
(The meaning of "R.R." is revealed below, so read on, True Deviants. Excelsior!)
Who is the proprietor of Val R.R. McJames' Mystifying Menagerie of Monkey-business?
Who, indeed, is Val R.R. McJames?
"Just an author writing solely to please my own tastes while hoping that others may enjoy coming along for the ride."
Other than that statement of purpose, there is no spoon! There is no "me." I'm not really here. Or at least I am not here to be myself. Essentially, I am here to Role Play as someone who pens prurient peril prose.
Et voila!
It took me about five months here to realize what I was doing. I want 100% anonymity on the Internet. I
Wonder Woman Looks to Be the Summer's Biggest Hit
The title of a Forbes.com article by Scott Mendelson says it with even more certainty, "Box Office: 'Wonder Woman' Is Now Sure To Be Summer's Biggest Hit."
https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2017/07/16/box-office-wonder-woman-is-going-to-be-the-biggest-domestic-hit-of-the-summer/#6160790c5233
Mendelson leads off with:
"Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc.'s Wonder Woman earned another $6.885 million in its seventh weekend of release, dropping just 30% despite losing another 347 theaters. That brings the $150 million superhero movie's domestic total to $380.686m in 45 days. That puts it around $6m behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($3
WW Won't Change the World? Bull-SHiP! She Just DiD
Please read this article by Mark Hughes at Forbes.com: 'Wonder Woman' Shatters Records With $200+ Million Worldwide Opening
https://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2017/06/03/wonder-woman-shatters-records-with-200-million-worldwide-opening/#2c9627991641
So, naysayers, Wonder Woman won't change the world, eh? Newsflash: She already has! If you want more superheroine movies to ever be made, then you are going to have to thank Wonder Woman. Why? Because she is the reason that profit-seeking studios are going to green-light more female-character-based films. They all want a piece of that $200-plus million action.
Say it with me: "Thank you, W
Wonder Woman ... 'Nuff Said!
Fellow True Deviants:
I'm so glad to be hearing from some of you, my fellow Deviants, that I am not the only one who has been waiting for Wonder Woman my whole life long. Together with seeing the Lord of the Rings trilogy on the big screen and Captain America and Joss Whedon's Serenity and the triumphant return of Star Wars, all my dream movies are about to be complete except for Batgirl, Black Widow, and a good Jungle Girl movie.
Ooo, let me share links to get all fired up for Wonder Woman.

Welcome to our weird little corner of the multiverse!
I never played Champions Online, but I've played the tabletop version for years (<adopts creaky, old man voice> Ya see, back in my day, we didn't have these fancy massively multiplayer whatchamacallits. we had to make our characters with a pencil and paper, and maybe a calculator if we were lucky. We had to roll our own dice, too! </voice>)
Making 3D art is sort of like chess. You can learn how to do it quickly, but getting good at it takes a while. I've been doing it for fifteen years, and I'm still learning stuff. However, with a little time and patience (and a few buckets of money to buy all the pretty, shiny things you have your heart set on), I'm sure you can do it too.
