From May 14-20 was a distracting week. If not for the multiple distractions, I would likely have published "Jen of the Jungle - Part 02" and "Batgirl - Blastoff!"
1) On Sunday night, May 14, I had a profound experience in role playing that has changed my personal perspective on peril and even altered my fantasy life that I have imagined for years. Sounds big, but since it's my own personal experience, not likely to be of great interest to others. Nonetheless, it was eye-opening and theoretically life-changing to some degree. I suppose this could deserve its own rambling discourse in a separate piece so as to spare the details here. Let's just say it is ironic that role playing peril to characters of my own that I care deeply about suddenly opened my eyes to some dark fantasies I had entertained for far too long, and I now no longer want any part of those more extreme fantasies.
2) I witnessed conflict between two creators here at DeviantArt whom I both respect and enjoy. It was heartbreaking to feel so helpless watching this happen before my "New Deviant" eyes, deathly afraid we would lose one or both of them. Happily the crisis seems to be past, and it looks like both creators are staying, so all's well that ends well.
3) A memorial service for an aunt of mine who recently passed away was held this week. I was not especially close, but nonetheless any health situation that deteriorates into, "Do we turn off the ventilator?" is deeply disturbing and sad when the answer gradually becomes, "Yes."
4) A nice envelope arrived bearing the three letters of doom: IRS. Suffice it say, if I mail in the documentation required, I can spare myself an unnecessary and incorrect assessment of thousands of dollars I do not truly owe but merely did not document sufficiently. All should end well, but dealing with the government is nerve-wracking, to say the least.
5) The need for changes related to work has become apparent, and that is always a fun time to go through.
So a handful of things distracted me from doing the writing -- and even the role playing -- I would probably otherwise have done very happily. Hopefully as I mail off my documentation to the IRS tomorrow, Monday the 22nd, I will begin to put this week behind me and get back to normal.
Life and all its ups and downs will go on, of course, but writing and role playing are ways to relieve stress for me, so I need to get back to them as soon as possible. Not to mention catching up on Netflix shows and eagerly awaiting the release of Wonder Woman.
Here's to the plain, boring weeks when nothing happens.

Cheers!

Meet the Maker of This Mystifying Menagerie
(The meaning of "R.R." is revealed below, so read on, True Deviants. Excelsior!)
Who is the proprietor of Val R.R. McJames' Mystifying Menagerie of Monkey-business?
Who, indeed, is Val R.R. McJames?
"Just an author writing solely to please my own tastes while hoping that others may enjoy coming along for the ride."
Other than that statement of purpose, there is no spoon! There is no "me." I'm not really here. Or at least I am not here to be myself. Essentially, I am here to Role Play as someone who pens prurient peril prose.
Et voila!
It took me about five months here to realize what I was doing. I want 100% anonymity on the Internet. I
Wonder Woman Looks to Be the Summer's Biggest Hit
The title of a Forbes.com article by Scott Mendelson says it with even more certainty, "Box Office: 'Wonder Woman' Is Now Sure To Be Summer's Biggest Hit."
https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2017/07/16/box-office-wonder-woman-is-going-to-be-the-biggest-domestic-hit-of-the-summer/#6160790c5233
Mendelson leads off with:
"Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc.'s Wonder Woman earned another $6.885 million in its seventh weekend of release, dropping just 30% despite losing another 347 theaters. That brings the $150 million superhero movie's domestic total to $380.686m in 45 days. That puts it around $6m behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($3

So, naysayers, Wonder Woman won't change the world, eh? Newsflash: She already has! If you want more superheroine movies to ever be made, then you are going to have to thank Wonder Woman. Why? Because she is the reason that profit-seeking studios are going to green-light more female-character-based films. They all want a piece of that $200-plus million action.
Say it with me: "Thank you, W
Wonder Woman ... 'Nuff Said!
Fellow True Deviants:
I'm so glad to be hearing from some of you, my fellow Deviants, that I am not the only one who has been waiting for Wonder Woman my whole life long. Together with seeing the Lord of the Rings trilogy on the big screen and Captain America and Joss Whedon's Serenity and the triumphant return of Star Wars, all my dream movies are about to be complete except for Batgirl, Black Widow, and a good Jungle Girl movie.
Ooo, let me share links to get all fired up for Wonder Woman.
