BearKat - Prowling the Concrete Jungle

This is BearKat's current appearance in Second Life as she poses for the camera. She was created using a high-quality, Maitreya Lara Mesh Body and Mesh clothing. You might notice the leopard spots showing up again as they do for my other heroine named Jenissa. It's true that I DO have a weakness for Jungle Girls, hehe, but BearKat prowls the concrete jungle, not the wilds of Africa. And this costume fits her backstory as detailed below in her Origin Story.

BearKat's original concept came from my very first superheroine character in Champions Online, who also became my very first max-level character there. She is meant to be looked at by some as being handicapped by her lack of super powers, yet she fights fiercely to prove herself, showing how a young woman can beat the odds if she's got brains and she trains. Her real-life first name is Katsumi, meaning "victorious beauty," and that is what she is!

Natural Abilities/Gifts/Talents:

Kat has an extremely high level of physical fitness, agility, flexibility, acrobatic ability, and martial arts skill achieved through a lifetime of hard work, training, and yoga. She is also highly intelligent, and in addition to being a fluent native-English speaker, she has picked up the ability to speak Russian and Japanese from her parents, as well as studying Spanish in school. Although favoring her right hand, she has trained to gain some degree of ambidexterity. Kat has a high level of self-confidence and independence, but this can get her into trouble when she is determined to prove she can do something by herself despite not having any real super powers.


Superheroine Powers:

Kat has worked hard all her life on martial arts, acrobatics, and yoga. She has achieved essentially the pinnacle of human potential for physical fitness, agility, flexibility, acrobatic ability, and martial arts skill. While she does not possess any true super powers, her body does have a very subtle variation from the norm. Her hands, elbows, knees, and feet are less sensitive to pain, enabling her to hit with her full, normal human strength. This does NOT give her super strength or any damage protection, only the ability to put up a fierce fight without pulling her punches when she needs to. The rest of Kat's body is also slightly more able to tolerate pain, though this again does NOT protect her in any way, but only allows her to fight all-out until she is literally exhausted, which is not always a good thing.

There is a side effect to Kat being slightly better able to tolerate pain. Her body is much more sensitive to non-painful, pleasurable stimuli, especially sexual arousal. This is only a benefit for romantic relationships, but when those with nefarious intent get their hands on Kat, she can be in real trouble as her body betrays her to react to things being done to her against her will.

Kat's life-long training regimen included yoga and meditation, and she exhibits extremely strong will power and resistance to mind control. (This is here to indicate that I don't want to Role Play as someone's mindless, human, inflatable sex toy.)  This will not stop her body from betraying her, as mentioned above, but just because her body can be aroused does not mean her thoughts can be dominated. Kat will resist her body's betrayal as long as possible, but in the end her sensitive, young body can only handle so much stimulation without succumbing to the arousal.

BearKat Biography/Origin Story (Updated 20170807)


The young superheroine BearKat ("Kat" for short) is Katsumi Saberov (also "Kat" for short, but sometimes called "Sumi" by a few people). She is the daughter of a Russian superhero, Red Saber, and a Japanese superheroine, Tiger Lily. As a girl's name, Katsumi means "victorious beauty" (according to the Internet). Upon discovering they were going to have a precious little girl, the couple retired to America to raise her away from the danger of the Russian mob and the Japanese Yakuza.

But Red Saber and Tiger Lily were extremely overprotective because Kat tested as completely human, having no detectable super powers at all. Despite other tests indicating Kat had very high intelligence and athletic ability, not to mention her obvious beauty, her parents began to think of Kat as a "special-needs" child simply because she was a normal human. Behind the scenes (as in not even Kat herself understands this yet), she actually has some sort of slight alteration in her body and nervous system that allows her to punch and kick extremely hard while feeling less pain in her hands, elbows, knees, and feet, but still with only her human levels of strength. The rest of Kat's body is also less sensitive to pain, but this does not provide any damage protection and is more like the ability to persevere THROUGH pain than to be immune to it.

Kat still feels it when punched and cries out when injured, and she can be knocked unconscious like anyone else, just with less of a headache afterward. Kat is NOT super-powered or invulnerable in any way, just better able to utilize her human strength to its full potential and to endure pain while fighting until the last ounce of her strength is exhausted. The side effect is that all of Kat's body is actually more sensitive and responsive to non-painful, pleasurable stimuli, especially sexual arousal. This is purely a plus for romantic relationships, but if someone with nefarious intent captures her, then to the victor goes the spoils of Kat's body since she can't help but feel pleasure as her body betrays her to respond in ways that leave her confused and embarrassed at how much she is enjoying what is being done to her against her will.

The overprotectiveness of her parents drove Kat to prove she could handle herself and be independent. She pushed herself to learn more and to train extra hard in martial arts and acrobatics. Unfortunately, Kat also grew less likely to ask for help, more likely to act overconfidently even when afraid, and increasingly likely to get herself in over her head. The lessened sensitivity to pain in her feet probably contributed to Kat's penchant for going barefoot at every chance she got, but it was also her way of always being ready to fight the way she did in the dojo and of not having her kicks slowed by heavy boots.

Meanwhile, Kat's parents kept refusing to intervene in crimes taking place all around them. Kat would urge her parents to help the poor people being victimized, but they refused. They never really explained to Kat that they were only trying to prevent her existence from being discovered by their supervillain arch-enemies, the Russian mob, and the Yakuza. Kat saw her parents' reluctance to use their super powers and didn't understand it. She grew even more determined to rebel and intervene when someone was in danger, from protecting classmates on the playground to saving a cat stuck in a tree to rescuing a young woman being dragged into an alley. Kat simply could not stand by and do nothing when someone was in need. Only her parents understood the terrible price that would be paid if the family's whereabouts were discovered by their old enemies.

In fact, Kat's parents often moved the family throughout her childhood, further contributing to her reluctance to rely on friends she thought she would soon lose. The danger of being discovered was always a concern to her parents, and they would not risk remaining in one place too long. Unbeknownst to Kat, there were even times when her parents were out shopping or otherwise alone and they would be confronted by criminals or scouts for their enemies. Red Saber and Tiger Lily would quickly spring into action and deal with them ruthlessly, using their super powers to wipe the minds of these enemies, or even to kill them if it could not be avoided. Though they felt guilty taking such harsh actions, they would do anything to protect their daughter.

When Kat turned 18, she became really upset that her parents would still not intervene in crimes despite her now supposedly being old enough to take care of herself. Chafing under her parents' overprotectiveness and blaming herself for being the reason they were no longer living the superheroic lives they once loved, Kat became convinced she would have to fill the shoes her parents had long ago stopped wearing. She did chuckle at the irony of her preferring to go barefoot while filling her parent's shoes, and it tickled her sense of humor.

At this point, Kat needed to figure out her superheroine name and costume. She wanted to honor both of her parents without giving away their identities. Her father, Red Saber, was from Russia, and Kat liked the symbol of the bear. One time on the playground she rescued a friend from bullies, and a teacher who saw it said Kat was "ferocious as a mama bear protecting her cub," which pleased Kat greatly. Her mother, Tiger Lily, had feline grace and agility that Kat worked tirelessly to imitate. Thus inspired, Katsumi decided on the name "BearKat."

Kat based her rather revealing costume on one of her yoga outfits, a leopard-spotted top and shorts that had some red mixed into the normally yellow background, darkening it a bit. She saw this as paying tribute to both her father's red costume and her mother's tiger-based costume, yet giving her a distinct identity as a ferocious, young bearcat. Every part of Kat's costume was either made of this thin, spotted material or was colored black. Her top, shorts, choker, and thigh straps were spotted, and her mask, upper-arm straps, fingerless gloves, utility belt, upper-thigh pouches, and sandals were black. Kat used the belt and thigh pouches to store useful items such as collapsible batons for fighting or throwing, cash, voice recorder, compact digital camera, multi-function tool, flashlight, a couple pairs of handcuffs, and some rope with a grappling hook. Unfortunately for Kat, her cuffs and rope were all too often taken and used to restrain her. Later, as she made friends, she started to wear an earpiece for communication.

Kat began sneaking out against her parents' wishes to fight crime alone as BearKat. She would tell criminals, "I'm BearKat: fierce as a grizzly and quick as a leopard. You better surrender and come along peacefully, or you will suffer the consequences." The criminals, being the jerks they were, would taunt her with things like, "BearKat? You look more like a bare kitten with that skimpy outfit." Or, "BearKat, huh? Listen, sweet-cheeks, how about you come closer and I'll give you a bear-hug!" And, "Is that so? Well, I see one sweet pussy I would like to see bare." All these remarks infuriated Kat and drove her to recklessly take on superior numbers, which often got her into trouble.

Eventually Kat ran afoul of a supervillain and supervillainess along with their small gang. Though it was quite an ordeal, Kat managed to triumph in the end and take them all down, bringing them to justice but garnering herself some unwanted attention in the process. The old enemies of Red Saber and Tiger Lily finally learned the truth that this superheroic couple had gone into hiding to raise a child. What made it worse was that the child was now a beautiful, young woman, which would make their revenge on the couple that much sweeter. Supervillains and supervillainesses began crawling out of the woodwork with their sights set on BearKat in order to inflict the cruelest revenge possible on Red Saber and Tiger Lily.

Kat faced the greatest challenges of her young life then, and still she tried to handle them alone. But other superheroes and superheroines began to respect her and befriend her at the same time, thanks to Kat's willingness to put herself in danger when she saw fellow heroes in need of help. Gradually she grew to know that other superheroes and superheroines could be counted on to have her back and could even care deeply for her. But the perils Kat faced -- with some help from her friends -- while trying to keep her struggles secret from Red Saber and Tiger Lily only grew more intense. Eventually it came out that the Russian mob and the Yakuza, along with the couple's supervillain and supervillainess arch-enemies, had found Red Saber and Tiger Lily, and were targeting Kat for revenge. Her parents' worst nightmare had come true.

Fortunately for Red Saber and Tiger Lily, their old superheroic friends had stayed in touch over the years, never forgetting the couple's bravery and loyalty. Other local superheroes and superheroines also came forth to stand with the couple, both the friends Kat had made and others who said they had always been inspired by stories of the couple's heroics. A showdown ensued that started as a rescue of Kat from the clutches of the enemies most responsible for the lifelong manhunt of the superhero family, but ended with Kat being the one to save the day, finally proving herself to her parents and opening their eyes to just how capable Kat truly was despite her lack of any real super powers.

The oldest enemies of Red Saber and Tiger Lily were now finally taken out of the picture, greatly reducing the resources that the Russian mob and Yakuza were willing to expend on hunting down a couple who had not bothered them for more than two decades. Red Saber and Tiger Lily officially came out of retirement and re-joined the superhero community. They gave Kat their blessing to embrace the superhero lifestyle and become a superheroine. But what meant the most to Kat was that her parents told her they were very proud of her. At a mere 22 years of age, Kat's dream of standing as an equal among the heroes fighting evil finally came true.
